Pass a hazard perception test (HPT) ($41.00 for each attempt) on the computer.

• Continuous license valid for: 2 years 6 months

• Maximum speed allowable: 100 km/h
• P plates to be displayed (green P) outside the vehicle
• No towing restrictions
• 7 demerit points for 2 years 6 months
• No towing restrictions
• Must not supervise a learner
• Upgrade to a higher license is allowed

Progression to a ‘full’ licence: Pass a Driver Qualification Test (DQT) which is a combination of an advanced hazard perception test, a further test of road rules and knowledge of safe driving practices.
